For Solo and Team battles, participants will be narrowed down to the top 8 or 16 competitors by having a Showcase Showdown so that a traditional 8 or 16 team single elimination tournament bracket can be used to insure that every Jam Skater/Team will need the same amount of wins to attain 1st place. Whether to use an 8 or 16 team bracket will be determined by time constraints and/or the number of competitors wishing to compete. *ALL Jam Skaters that have paid to compete will be allowed to do their performance subject to any time constraints.
The Showcase Showdown is where each Jam Skater/Team will ‘showcase’ their Jam Skating ability in front of all judges. Solo Jam Skaters will showcase for up to 45 seconds. Teams will showcase for up to 2 minutes. Five judges will score each solo Jam Skater (or six judges will score each Team) on a scale of 0-10 (including half points) at the end of their set and the Jam Skaters/Teams with the highest scores will be included in the tournament bracket. (50 total points possible for solos; 60 total points possible for teams.) Scores and seeding will not be announced until after everyone has had a chance to skate. *All Jam Skaters that have paid to compete will be allowed to skate for the Showcase Showdown providing that they are present when it’s their turn and subject to any time constraints.
Any ties will be broken by using the individual score in the following order, if necessary:
For solo Jam Skaters: Battletude, then Footwork, Musicality, Groundwork, and Power.
For Teams: Teamwork, then Battletude, then Footwork, Musicality, Groundwork, and Power.
*If still tied, both Jam Skaters/Teams will ‘showcase’ again until one of them receives a higher score than the other from the judges.
All Jam Skaters must participate in the Showcase Showdown in order to qualify to compete regardless of Leaderboard ranking, sponsorship, or otherwise.
The order in which Jam Skaters/Teams participate in the Showcase Showdown will be randomly generated and announced ahead of time.
A Jam Skater or Team that advances into the tournament bracket will receive either 40 points (solo battles) or 20 points (team battles) toward their Leaderboard total only when the number of participants exceeds the size of the bracket being used (meaning they outranked at least one other competitor who did not make the bracket). When the number of participants exactly matches the bracket size, no showcase points are awarded.
8 or 16 team single elimination tournament brackets will be used whenever possible to insure that every Jam Skater/Team will need the same number of wins to attain 1st place.
Jam Skaters/Teams will be seeded in the following order for an 8-team single elimination tournament bracket. The Jam Skater/Team with the lower seed (which is the higher number) will always skate first. *Except for the championship round where the highest seed can choose whether to skate first or not.

Jam Skaters/Teams will be seeded in the following order for a 16-team single elimination tournament bracket. The Jam Skater/Team with the lower seed (which is the higher number) will always skate first. *Except for the championship round where the highest seed can choose whether to skate first or not.

After the Showcase Showdown and once the tournament bracket has been determined, a new bracket will not be made to accommodate skaters that come late and/or didn’t skate during the Showcase Showdown.
If a Jam Skater/Team is disqualified or drops out of the first round before they skate, their spot will be filled by the next highest seeded Jam Skater/Team that is not already on the bracket. (i.e. The 9th or 17th seed from the Showcase Showdown depending on whether it is an 8 or 16 team bracket being used.)
If a Jam Skater/Team is disqualified or drops out of any other round before they skate, their spot will be filled by the Jam Skater/Team that lost from the previous round. *This insures that no Jam Skater/Team will be allowed to progress to the next round unless they actually battle and win.
Any tournament held with less than 4 Jam Skaters/Teams will not be officially ‘sanctioned’ and no points will be awarded towards the Jam Skaters’ Leaderboard total although recognition and prizes may still be given out.
